I Choose Her
by
Rocky Dickerson

I am my own man

Confident and strong

Independent and willed

I do not NEED a woman in my life

And still

Now I cannot imagine a life without her

I chose not to miss her face as she awakens

I chose not to miss the feel of her touch each night

I chose not to miss the lips that have entranced me

I chose not to miss the sound of her voice

I chose her

Above all others

I chose her

And she in turn chooses me

And in so doing

Saves me from the life in which I had never known her
