Until I met you

By Rocky Dickerson

I never knew what a smile could be until you gave me yours

I never imagined a kiss could take me to a different time and place until I tasted yours

I never thought that I could need to hear a voice every day until I heard yours

I never pondered I might want to feel a certain touch so badly until I felt yours

I never marveled at the beauty of a soul as seen through someone’s eyes until I looked at yours

I never wondered at child-like joy from a woman until I saw it from you

I never sensed a destiny until it touched me through you

I never had a clue…

I never had a sign…

I never had a hint…

And I never had a reason to believe

                                                                            Until I met you
